Can You Play Death Kitchen Solo?
Short answer: yes. The Steam store page lists Single-player right alongside Co-op and Online Co-op in the game's features, so Eternal Blaze Studio built a solo path into the game from day one. You won't need friends to launch a shift. Whether you'll enjoy it alone is a different question — here's what actually changes.
What solo play looks like
- You're both chef and server. In co-op the crew splits cooking and order-running between people. Alone, every job is yours: prep, cook, plate, deliver, repeat. The timer doesn't care that you're one person.
- No voice chat needed, obviously. Half of co-op Death Kitchen is shouting across a call about which plate belongs to which alien. Solo removes the coordination tax entirely.
- The chaos still scales. The kitchen misbehaving — flaring stoves, greasy floors, the fridge with attitude — is environmental and happens regardless of headcount. You'll fight all of it by yourself.
- Rounds stay short. Same timed-shift structure, so a bad run costs you minutes, not an evening. That's forgiving when you're learning both roles at once.
Is it worth $9.99 if you only play solo?
- Price check: $9.99 on Steam right now. The 10% launch discount from August has ended, so there's no deal to chase today.
- Honest caveat: the game is tuned around a full crew, and its best moments come from coordinated panic with friends. As a strictly solo purchase, you're getting maybe half of what it's built for.
- It's early days. As of Aug 25, the Steam page hasn't accumulated user reviews yet, so there's no community verdict to lean on either way. If you're cautious, wishlist it and wait a couple of weeks for reviews to land.

What your PC needs
- Minimum: Windows 10, quad-core Intel i5 or Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060. Nothing exotic — most gaming PCs from the last several years clear this easily.
- Crossplay: not confirmed yet. If part of your group ends up on console later, check before everyone buys.
Solo Death Kitchen is a decent practice ground and a fine time-killer; co-op is the main event. If you've got two friends and a voice channel, bring them.
