Hell Let Loose: Vietnam
The hardcore 50v50 shooter's first new theater of war. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam trades the Western Front for the jungles of Southeast Asia, with full crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox — a franchise first. Out Aug 13, 2026.
What is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam?
Hell Let Loose is the shooter that took the "one bullet can end you" milsim approach and made it approachable — 50 players per side, no kill feed spam, no hit markers, just positioning, communication, and map control. Vietnam is the franchise's big step away from World War II: same core, new jungle, new weapons, new ways to die.
It's built by Expression Games and published by Team17, and it launched August 13, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The headline feature is crossplay — PC and console players share the same servers for the first time in the series, which fixes the perennial complaint that console lobbies were too empty.
How it plays
- 50v50 battles with the same territory-control flow as the WWII game — squads, garrisons, and officers matter.
- Jungle combat changes everything: sightlines are short, ambushes are constant, and the M16 vs. AK dynamic is the new flavor.
- Vehicles and helicopters in the mix — the theater's signature hardware shows up on the battlefield.
- Full crossplay across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with dedicated servers.
- Same hardcore rules: no health regen to speak of, friendly fire, and death that actually costs you.
Fair warning: launch week has been rough around the edges. The Steam reception started mostly negative — players are calling it buggy and, at times, a reskin of the base game with a Vietnam paint job. It's still a lot of fun when it works, but if you're sensitive to jank, this one is a "wait for patches" candidate. The community is split the same way, and the honest recommendation depends on how much you already love Hell Let Loose.
No discount as of Aug 15, 2026. It's a full-price standalone release — existing Hell Let Loose players should check whether their base game progress carries over on the store page.
Worth a look if
- You're already a Hell Let Loose player and want the new theater
- You want a hardcore shooter with crossplay so your console friends can join
- Vietnam-era milsim is specifically your thing — there's very little competition
Skip it for now if you're new to the series — start with the base game, and let Vietnam's launch-week bugs get patched first. More in our worth-it guide.
