How to fix dying plants in Tiny Eden

A plant slowing down, browning at the edges, refusing to grow. In Tiny Eden that is usually the game talking to you, not a glitch: plant health is the core mechanic, and most sick-looking plants are asking for water, a temperature change, or a trim. Some of it, though, really is on the game's bug list this week.

First, work out which of the three it is

Almost every "my plant is dying" moment in week one falls into one of three buckets, and the fix is different for each.

• Conditions are off. Every plant has its own temperature band and needs its water level kept up. A plant sitting in a cold draft or a baking room grows slowly and looks rough. The fix is water, an open window, or a heater before anything else.
• Normal growth. Leaves age. Trimming dying growth is part of the routine care loop, the same category as pulling weeds. Seeing some dead-looking leaves on an otherwise healthy plant is not a crisis.
• A launch bug. There's a short list of confirmed problems that look like plant trouble but aren't your fault. That's the next section.

The care loop, from the game's own instructions

Bajka Games' store page spells out what each plant wants, and it lines up with what players describe: the right planter for the plant, a soil mix you build from components like compost, sand and clay, a placement with suitable light and temperature, then watering and weeding while it grows. Flowers, berries and vegetables each have their own needs, so a plant moved into "a better corner" can still sulk if that corner is wrong for its species.

The two dials worth checking every visit: the planter's water level and the room temperature. Most of the time a sad plant is one of those two, and the game gives you the tools (watering can, window, heater) to fix it on the spot.

What players are actually hitting in week one

Steam reviews more than doubled between September 8 and 9, from 68 to 160, and the positive share settled from 96% to 86% (138 of 160 positive). Read through the negative pile and a pattern shows up: almost none of the complaints are about the plant loop itself. They're about the stuff around the plants. If your problem is on this list, stop blaming your gardening:

• Attachments only snap to 4x4 planters. Grow lights, mini fans and heaters will not attach to tables or other furniture. One player at 19 hours put it plainly: if you have a plant that needs a heater but doesn't sit in a 4x4 planter, you're out of luck.
• The "this is not a planter" bug. Carried over from the demo era: a planter that refuses water and insists it isn't a planter when clicked. It's on the bug list, not on you.
• Weeds that won't be picked up. AltChar's review hit weeds that stayed glued down after clearing.
• The in-game manual is incomplete. GameObserver found missing photos in the Gardener's Guide and duplicate pages in the encyclopedia. So when the game's own reference can't settle an argument between you and a plant, that's the manual's fault.

Questions people are asking

• Can plants die permanently? Not in any way early players describe as of September 9. Plants slow down when conditions are wrong; nothing documented says a plant is gone for good. If yours looks completely wrecked, check the planter itself for the clipping bugs reviewers mentioned.
• How do you remove a fully dead plant? Trimming dying growth is built into the care loop. There's no public control reference yet for clearing a withered plant outright — the game just launched and the built-in guide shipped buggy — so some of this is learn-by-doing for now. We'll update this page once the control is confirmed.
• Why won't my plant grow even though I water it? Check temperature first. Then check whether its attachment (light, fan, heater) actually snapped on — the 4x4-only snapping above quietly leaves plants without the equipment they need.
• Does the planter type matter? Yes. Each plant wants a suitable container, and the snapping quirk makes the 4x4 planters the only ones that accept equipment right now.
