FC 27 platforms, crossplay, and split-screen

The short version: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. Crossplay is on by default between all of them. Split-screen is back for local PvP and co-op. No last-gen, no Switch, no Steam Deck optimization claim yet.

Crossplay: the practical bit

Crossplay in FC 27 is the same setup as FC 25 and FC 26 — it's on by default, and your matchmade pool is shared across PC (Steam, EA app), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Voice chat and cross-progression depend on your EA account, not your platform. If you bought FC 26 on PS5 and are switching to PC for FC 27, your EA account carries over (with the usual FC 24 → FC 25 → FC 26 carry-over caveats).

You can opt out of crossplay per-pool if you want a platform-locked match — useful for console players who want the same input setup as their opponents. Most people will leave it on.

Split-screen, controller support, and the couch

Split-screen PvP and split-screen co-op are both listed on the Steam page — same as FC 25 and FC 26, which brought split-screen back to the series after years without it. If you and a mate want to play 1v1 on the same couch, that works. The Grounds mode is expected to support split-screen the same way the rest of the PvP modes do, though EA hasn't published a per-mode list yet.

Last-gen, Switch, and the absent platforms

FC 27 is current-gen only. No PS4, no Xbox One, no Switch, no Switch 2. EA dropped last-gen after FC 24 — the PS4/Xbox One versions existed but were clearly last-cycle. Same this year: if you're on older hardware, you need a current console or a PC that can run the game. The Steam page lists the minimum/recommended specs closer to launch.

What's still unknown

  • Steam Deck verification. FC 25 got a "playable" rating, not verified. FC 27's status will land closer to launch.
  • EA Play early access. EA has put past FC titles on EA Play for a 10-hour trial. Whether FC 27 lands on EA Play at launch or shortly after, and whether Ultimate Team points carry across, isn't confirmed yet.
  • Cross-progression between Steam and EA app. Same account should carry over, but the cross-buy setup (buy on one store, get it on the other) hasn't been confirmed for FC 27.
