MGS4 Master Collection — PC requirements
The official specs straight from the Steam page (Aug 27, 2026). Two things stand out before you even read the table: Windows 11 is required — Windows 10 isn't listed at all — and the recommended GPU is a GTX 970 while the minimum is a GTX 1650. That's what KONAMI published, so here it is as-is.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-9600K | Intel Core i5-10500 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 25 GB available | 25 GB available |
| SSD | Recommended | Required |
What to make of this sheet
- The Windows 11 requirement is the real filter. If your PC is on Windows 10, the official spec says you're out. Worth checking your OS version before you buy — this is the kind of thing that produces angry reviews on day one.
- 16GB RAM minimum is heavy for a 2008 game. The original ran on a PS3 with 256MB of system RAM. This is a sign the port isn't a lazy wrapper — or a sign they just set conservative numbers. No way to know yet.
- GTX 970 recommended vs 1650 minimum. Odd combo — the 970 is older but faster in most real loads. If you own either, you're probably fine; if you're below both, don't expect much.
- SSD required at recommended settings. The PS3 original streamed from Blu-ray at ~9MB/s. The port wants fast storage, which suggests uncompressed textures and maybe long loads without one.
- 25GB is small for MGS4's reputation. The PS3 version shipped on a 50GB dual-layer disc. KONAMI's number is what they ship; install size will be what it is.
Steam Deck? Don't assume yet
KONAMI hasn't published a Steam Deck compatibility rating — the store page just went live. Windows 11 as a minimum also risks running into Proton quirks. Treat Deck support as unconfirmed until Valve or KONAMI says otherwise. If you're buying mainly for Deck, give it a few days and watch the Steam forums.
The honest caveat
This is a day-one port — there are no reliable benchmarks or verified frame-rate reports yet. Until Steam reviews and tech sites run the numbers in the next few days, the spec sheet is all anyone has. If you're on the fence about performance, the responsible move is to wait 48 hours.
