Mistfall Hunter Classes — Best Starting Class
Mistfall Hunter launched with four classes. Launch-week tier lists mostly agree on the order, but the right pick depends on whether you're playing solo or with a group.
The four classes
| Class | Playstyle | For beginners? |
|---|---|---|
| Mercenary | Melee bruiser, high damage, forgiving to learn | Yes — the usual "first pick" in tier lists |
| Withered Knight | Tanky frontliner, takes hits while the team deals damage | Yes, if you like tanking |
| Seer | Support with healing and protection spells | Strong in groups, weaker solo |
| Sorcerer | Ranged caster, big damage, low survivability | No — hardest to keep alive early |
What the tier lists say
Most launch-week rankings (GameSpot, Mobalytics, community tier lists) put the Mercenary at the top for general play — it deals damage without the fragility of a caster, and its skill ceiling is high enough that it stays relevant. The Withered Knight sits just behind it as the safe tank option. The Seer is rated highly in coordinated groups because healing decides long fights, but it's a poor solo pick. The Sorcerer is the glass cannon: the biggest numbers on paper, the most punishing when you get caught.
Our advice
- Solo player, first run: Mercenary. Simple gameplan, survives mistakes.
- Playing with friends: one Withered Knight or Seer in the group makes every run smoother — someone has to take the hits or keep people alive.
- Experienced extraction players: Sorcerer is the high-risk pick with the highest ceiling. Not recommended until you know the maps.
One more thing
Balance in a game this new moves fast — the class that's "best" in week one may be nerfed by week three. Pick what feels good to play; every class can extract successfully at launch.
