Mistfall Hunter
A dark fantasy extraction ARPG from Bellring Games. You drop into a fog-shrouded world, fight for gear, and get out alive. Out Jul 29, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox — day-one on Game Pass, with crossplay.
What is Mistfall Hunter?
Mistfall Hunter is the extraction ARPG that people keep comparing to New World and Dark and Darker — and that comparison is mostly accurate. You pick a class, build a loadout, and drop into the mist with other players. Fight monsters, grab loot, and extract before you lose everything. The twist on the genre: it plays like a Soulslike in combat, slower and more deliberate than a looter shooter.
It launched July 29, 2026 and hit a million players within its first week across all platforms — one of those launches where the Game Pass day-one deal plus word of mouth did the job. The community is already arguing about class balance, which for a game like this is a sign of life, not a problem.
How it plays
- Extraction loop: go in, fight, loot, extract. Die in the mist and your run's progress is at risk.
- Four classes with distinct playstyles — melee, ranged, and support flavors, each with skills and talents to combine.
- Solo or co-op: you can run solo or team up, with PvP and PvE happening in the same zones.
- Gear matters: the gear you extract with is the progress. That's the tension that makes the genre work.
- Crossplay across PC, PS5, and Xbox, including Game Pass versions — no platform split.
If you bounced off the extraction genre because of how punishing it is, Mistfall Hunter is the accessible version people keep pointing to — the combat is readable, the classes are straightforward, and you're not spending twenty minutes looting before anything happens. The r/Games thread "Mistfall Hunter has made me a believer in extraction games" sums up the mood of launch week.
Steam price, US store, checked Sep 25, 2026: $22.49, 10% off the $24.99 base. Included with Game Pass on console and PC, so subscribers get it free. Price on Steam is set by the publisher — check the store page for changes.
Worth a look if
- You like extraction games but found Escape from Tarkov too hardcore
- Soulslike combat clicks for you and you want it in a loot-and-extract wrapper

Skip it if you want a single-player story — this is a live multiplayer game first, with all the server and balance drama that comes with it.
