Release date, pre-order, and launch times

Short version: it's out. Capcom's official worldwide date was September 4, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC. Steam prints Sep 3 because the PC unlock is one single global moment. No early-access window, nothing unlocked before the street date.

How it actually unlocked

Capcom stuck to one global street date — no staggered rollout, and no early-access tier that got to play first. Consoles went live at local midnight on September 4. PC was the exception, because Steam, Epic and the Microsoft Store all unlocked at the same instant worldwide, which is why the Steam page reads "Sep 3" for anyone in the Americas.

Preloads were up ahead of launch on every platform, so most of the day-one traffic was the launch patch rather than the full download.

Editions and extras

$69.99 has been the only price since September 4, and Capcom hasn't run a launch discount. On Steam the base game sits next to a small set of add-ons: two character outfits (one for the Oni Lady, one for Okuni), a "Red Souls" materials pack, and a $34.99 original soundtrack. None of them are needed to play the story. On the Switch 2 eShop, pre-orders did bundle a Lion Dog charm and a sword "Sealed Curse" appearance — a Nintendo store perk announced back in June.

Compare that with Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake, both of which shipped gold and collector tiers stacked with cosmetics and art books. Way of the Sword launched lean. Console storefronts bundle extras differently by region, so if you want a specific outfit or a physical copy, check your own store's listing.
